About the Company:
Garden Austin is a sole-proprietor company operating in and around, Austin, Texas. We partner with like-minded landscapers, designers and craftspeople to bring unique talent and ideas to every project.
I started my gardening love by hating the home- and community-garden plot chores my parents forced made me do. Makes sense gardening would now be my number one creative outlet, and a thing that continually revives me.
Other than gardening being genetically instilled, I have volunteered extensively with the City of Austin’s Wildland Conservation Division as a preserve guide and property monitor on both the Balcones Canyonland Preserves (BCP) and Water Quality Protection Lands (WQPL). Through the experiences with the City, I have learned an incredible amount about plants and the area’s unique ecosystem. In 2009 I was honored for 93 hours of service in the previous year.
I recently completed three and a half years of leadership with the Capital Area Master Naturalists, serving first as their Vice-President, and then President.

About the Blog:
But this blog isn’t really about me. It’s about doing and sharing gardening in Austin’s unique climate, one that can seem perfectly temperate at times and downright difficult at others. We’ll feature guest contributors and reposts from other blogs (with permission, of course) that fit the themes of sustainability, organic methodologies, native planting, landscape design, and some of those intangible aspects of how gardening improves our lives.
Isn’t it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too? – Douglas Adams
